A Recycling Fundraising Success!

Recently our school named Hancock Creek Elementary School decided to raise money by recycling in order to fund our second grade field trip.
I have been teaching at Hancock for about 5 years now so I am very familiar with the different types of fundraisers that have been used to raise money. This was a unique idea brought up at one of many teacher-parent conferences and in the end the school decided that it would be a great idea. It would be a great idea not only because we were helping the planet but we were also funding our field trip to the beach for a beach cleanup.
In order to get all of the students, faculty, and parents involved we created posters and fliers to hang around in the school, in the neighborhood, and to parents.
What really helped to make this a successful fundraiser was the enthusiasm of the students, parents, faculty, and the people of the community.
The faculty also decided to have a pizza party for the classroom that brought in the most ink jet cartridges to recycle. This was definitely a great idea because once the students found out about the pizza party they got into the habit of bringing in a lot of ink cartridges to recycle.
In the end with the help of everyone we were able to collect 500 ink cartridges to recycle. It was definitely a very successful fundraiser and the school plans on doing the same fundraiser next year. Hopefully, the next fundraiser is an even better success.
