Boy Scouts Mistaken identity
by william maguire
When i was about ten years old, my boy scout troop had a chocolate bar selling fundraiser. I was posted out in front of several area stop n shops selling candy bars for a dollar to passerby.
Being very young, My father always came with me. he was a great guy, but he was not very mobile having injured his back while working as a nurse. He now gets around on canadian crutches. so he would supervise me while i would sell candy bars, and at one point, I offered a candy bar to a very angry looking woman who seemed like she was in a hurry. She was not in too much of a hurry to chastise me for trying to compete with the poor vietnam vet over aT THE OTHER door(my dad) and made it a point to go buy one from him instead.
She caused such an uproar that we sold out our entire quota of thirty cases (that's over 1200 bars) in that one evening. We had a good chuckle on the way home, and the boy scouts benefited as well. Thank god for my dad's sense of humour.,
