Bracelet Fundraiser Goes Awry

My high school speech and debate team decided to sell silicone bracelets as a fundraiser in 2005, at the height of the silicone bracelet craze. We decided to get a whole variety of different colored bracelets, each printed with a white text speech and debate slogan. We did not get the usual kind where a phrase or symbol is imprinted in the rubber; instead we had a printed text message of one or two lines printed in ink ON the surface of the bracelet.

I initially liked this idea because we got to use a huge swathe of different speech and debate sayings, "Debaters do it Orally"; "I'm a Master Debater", etc. The variety of colors was also fun. However, the white text printed on the surface of the band often would rub off, and it looked rather cheap. From far away the bands looked like wide grocery-store rubber bands with words written on them by-hand. Not many people bought them. I think they were a good idea, but poorly executed.
