Brian's Bracelets

by Candy
(Oakland, Ca )

In a small elementary school of 160 kids, one of the brightest 1st graders was diagnosed with cancer. This brilliant and bright kid attended the private school on scholarship, and the medical bills were more than going to devastate the family who also had an older daughter in the 3rd.

So in order to bring awareness to the disease, as well as to raise money for the parents and the medical bills. The 1st grade class had a bracelet fundraiser. They sold green bracelets (Brian's favorite color) with Brian's Bracelet inspired on each one. The class sold the bracelets for $5 a piece and also asked for donations from the school and the parish.

Bulletins about the fundraiser went home to every parent, as well as much in the parish bulletin and during the Sunday sermon. Over the month we the big push for Brian, we were able to sell over 1,000 bracelets and raise close to $10,000.

It was a great cause for a great kid.
