Candle Fundraiser for Soldiers

My cousin is deployed with the United States Marines. I also have friends who are deployed as well as friends who have family over there fighting for our freedom as well.

Around Veterans day last year my Sister and one of our friends decided there needed to be a way to raise some money to get those brave women and men the things they need, and deserve, as well as a few things that they want. After all, they really do deserve it! I know personally how special it is when our loved ones can call us from way over there, so phone cards are wonderful to be able to send to these brave men and women.

Anyway, we decided to sell red, white and blue candles; after all in our minds everyone loves candles in their homes! We sold candles under the idea of "Love a Soldier, light a Candle; Support a Soldier, buy a Candle."

The idea worked great! We sold many candles and were able to send many care packages over to the men and women serving our country and keeping us safe shortly after Veterans Day. We went onto adopt a soldier, explained what we were doing and were set in the right direction as to where to send our gifts. It was a great success and all of us are soo very happy and proud for what we did.
