Candy Fundraiser Paves Road to Cooperstown

by Kyle
(MI)

When I was 12 years old I was a member of a travel baseball team. At this ideal age, Cooperstown is the equivalent of the the World Series of travel teams. That summer in August my team was set to go play in New York and face some of the top teams in the nation. Luckily, at that time I had a great opportunity because of the fact that my Dad was in a bowling league two nights a week. What better way than to offer these adults that are bowling some candy bars for a good cause. Plus, who is going to turn down a kid selling candy bars for a buck?

The plan actually turned out way better than I thought. I just tried to be as friendly and kind as possible and it seemed to work out. Even those who were not chocolate or candy fans decided to donate a few dollars. And, I even had a few generous donations of $10 for one candy bar.

Through selling candy bars for my fundraiser, I ended up earning over $300 and ended up having a great trip in New York. My best tip would be to be very friendly and kind to the individuals you are trying to sell candy to.
