Breakers In Georgia!

Breakers In Georgia!

I am the secretary of a student organization on the University of Central Missouri campus called "Breakers-Alternative Spring Break." Our organization does various fundraisers during the school year and each spring break we take a trip to another state and build a home with Habitat for Humanity. In the past we have to go Georgia, Mississippi, and this March we are going to Alabama.

We do various types of fundraisers like selling candy bars, putting on benefit dinners, selling candles, and of course selling magazine subscriptions.

We used the website www.magfundraising.com rather than a paper order form. The way this site works is that each member of the organization sends out as many emails as they can with links so that recipients can purchase subscriptions online. Through this particular site, the organization gets 40% of the sale amount!

This site was great because it required little effort on our part and not much effort on the buyer's part either. The organization does not have to pay a dime out of pocket to do this, and it takes very little planning. The whole thing can be organized and managed from a computer screen.

On the website, you can see how many emails each member has sent out and how much money each person has earned for the group. I would recommend that each of your organization's members be required to send out a certain number of emails. This way, each member is at least required to TRY, which is something everyone can do.

This fundraiser is very lucrative considering the amount of effort and time needed. We sold $1,048 worth of subscriptions, and we profited 40% which is $419! We have done other fundraisers in the past that earned us similar profits but required a lot more work. By selling magazine subscriptions, the return is definitely output.
