Cub Scout Cookbook

We needed to raise money for our Cub Scouts Pack in Kansas City, and did the selling candy door to door thing, then realized we did not have enough money to take all the boys to places we wanted to.
It happened to be the 50th anniversary of our church, so we invited not only all the parents of the scouts to send in recipes, but also put a notice in the church bulletin for contributions. Ours is a larger, older parish and we got tons of recipes!
I volunteered to get them all typed in a format to send to the printers, and had no idea we'd get this many recipes! Many, of course, were duplicates, and I had to make sure all that sent in the recipe were acknowledged, to avoid hurt feelings. Let's just say many of our recipes had "variations" listed after the recipe to account for the slight differences in those submitted. We had some recipes with some pretty racy names, that I didn't feel would go over to well in a church cookbook, and had to be omitted!
The company that publishes these kind of cookbooks includes coupons and a chocolate cookbook with their printing costs, so we were able to give all our buyers some real value.
We had them finished in time for the Christmas holidays, so sales were great! We not only had sales from the parents of the scouts, but from many of the parishioners, and many bought as gifts. We were able to clear several hundred dollars, and were able to take the boys on several day trips to historic sites and nature trails that year.
