Doggy Dip Fundraiser
In my position as President of the High School Band Boosters, I was charged with coordinating fundraising for a trip sponsored by the City of Roswell to complete in the All-American City competition in Atlanta, Georgia. The teens and parents needed to raise $20,000 in six weeks which seemed like a daunting task.
We needed to do a number of fundraisers, but one in particular was chosen for its uniqueness. The teens decided that a "Doggy Dip" in the local park would be a great idea for dogs to get rid of fleas and for community members to donate.
One local veterinarian donated all of the flea shampoo, the teens collected inflatable swimming pools, and the parents sold tickets to everyone they could find who had a dog.
The event was remarkable successful with over $1,000 raised. Twenty-one teens participated along with a large number of parents, and the local newspaper covered the event.
