Easy Fundraiser and a Limo Ride!

When I was in Jr. High we had a magazine fund raiser. We were located in a middle to working class area in Southern California. The fundraiser was a general PTA fundraiser that was used to bring in special assemblies and guest speakers to our campus. I remember when I heard about it I thought it would be much harder than selling candy bars because it cost more but once I figured out the right people to ask it was easy.

At first I asked my orthodontist, dentist, and doctor but I soon discovered many of these people got these magazines for free. I was a little bummed but then I remember all the people who I saw reading magazine. When I house sat for a neighbor I remember she got lots of magazines so I asked her if she would renew with me and sure enough she did renew a few magazines.

My mom decided to get some magazines subscriptions as Christmas gifts for people and renewed the ones she and my dad got. I even convinced some of my sister's high school friends to get fashion magazine subscriptions from me! The "mother-load" was when my grandmother decided to renew 3 magazines she took regularly for lifetime memberships!

The five top sellers got to go on a limo ride for an afternoon around town. We had lots of fun and I got to know a few other kids better that afternoon. In the end this was much better than selling candy bars door to door!
