Evening of Delights School Fundraiser
My son's high school was finding it more and more difficult to fund all of the different school clubs, activities and sports. The administration did not want to turn to "pay for play" since the school already charged tuition to attend. So we organized an event called Evening of Delights and invited area restaurants and banquet halls to bring their best food dish and be prepared to serve approximately 1,000 people. We charged a modest $30 for advance tickets and the event was a hit both for the attendees and the restaurants who participated. It's hard to get a good meal for $30 in a restaurant these days, so the entry fee was not a hard sell and with over 20 restaurants participating, our guests got plenty to eat. In return, the restaurants and banquet halls got great exposure to future patrons. In particular, since it is a high school and many families plan graduation parties, this was a great way to "interview" and "test" potential caterers for graduation parties. I myself found a caterer for my son's graduation party. At the end of it all, after deducting the cost of renting tables, etc. the school netted approximately $30,000 which went a long way in covering the costs of the sports and activities that the school offers.
