Fairytale/Story Book Fundraiser

Every kid has their favourite fairytale or story book that they love reading over and over again (or read to). Allow the kids one day to come to school dressed up as their favourite character (and bring their favourite story book) to school, to share their stories with other children. Each child however, interested in dressing up should pay (like $5 or something) ahead of time or on the day.

Not only are the kids going to enjoy dressing up and seeing their friends dressed up, but it promotes reading among young children and it raises money. My primary school used to do this and it would be the entire school dressed up! The younger kids would bring their books, and people who borrowed the most books from the library would get prizes, etc. It was always really fun; kids really get into it.

I believe the cause was to increase and promote literacy in children, but I'm not totally definite (I was a little kid when this happened). It was a really great fundraiser and I'm sure it would be a great success at any school.
