Fall Fundraiser Raises $30k in One Day
(FL)
The Fall Fundraiser is the "big event" of the year. It is played up in the newspapers and such as the "social event of the season," which attracts the high-income crowd, who are only too willing to get their picture in the paper for a good deed!
The fundraiser is an all-day affair, with over twenty area restaurants (and the culinary arts department of SCMI!) providing free food. There is a live auction and a silent auction of donated items, which usually raises a significant amount of money. There are straight-up sales of goods, some of them made by the facility's students.
In fall of 2007, the fundraiser raised over $30,000 during their single day!
