Football Fundraiser Gets Help From Cheerleaders

by Mauricio
(FL)

During my junior year in high school, football coaches collectively took inventory of the equipment that was to be used by the junior and senior varsity players for the upcoming year.

After sorting through the different equipment types(helmets, knee pads, chest pads), the coaches reached an overall conclusion that the general condition of the equipment was "poor", with pads ripped in areas, and dented helmets.

With about six months left in the curriculum year, and an entire summer term to follow, the coaches decided to implement a few fundraising strategies that would generate resources to purchase new equipment.

The core of the fundraiser would consist of presenting the idea to all the students who were to participate in the team in the upcoming year, and taking note of all students who were willing to participate in the fundraiser. Those who participated were given priority of new equipment.

Next, a consent form was to be handed out to each participating student, indicating the specific nature of the fundraiser, which would require parental approval through signature. Those who were approved then, were instructed to collect money for the school, at different areas nearby the school, using their helmets to collect the donations, and carrying a sign as well.

The cheerleading squad also conducted a car wash, situated on the parking lot of a local restaurant. It was a relatively quick process - it took about a month to generate substantial earnings to purchase new equipment.
