Free Fundraising Idea #6

Café Press – this company will give you a FREE web store where you can sell custom made merchandise (design your own) like t-shirts, hoodies, hats, etc. and you don't have to buy or stockpile anything. And there are no pre-printing, setup or inventory fees. They even handle all the payments for you.

Here's how it works...

When you sign up as a seller at Cafe Press, they give you a FREE online store. It's created for you so you don't need to know anything technical. You set the price on all of your merchandise.

There's a base fee, and you charge anything you want over that price. The difference is your profit. All you need to do is upload a logo, photo or graphic that represents your group.

This image will then appear on all your merchandise, including t-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, hats, etc. Then you send everyone you know (and everyone they know, etc., etc.) to your store to buy your wonderful stuff. Easy and FREE.  See why it's called the $100,000 Dollar Fundraiser

Free Fundraiser Idea #8

The only thing you'll need for this fundraiser is plenty of enthusiastic volunteers, so it's especially appropriate for large non-profit groups such as schools and churches.

There are presently 11 states in the US that require retailers to charge a deposit for beverage containers – mostly glass bottles – and give the deposit back to consumers when the bottle is returned.

If you live in one of these states you can help the environment and earn money for your fundraiser or charity simultaneously. Volunteers simply collect bottles throughout the year either by collecting them as they're used or by scavenging the roadsides looking for discards.  At only 5 cents per bottle, it may seem like a waste of time and effort, but it can really add up.

Denise C. from Michigan writes: “This last year we started a bottle drive (in MI we have bottle deposits) It was going to be a week long event but turned into a year long event. We have raised several thousand dollars. We contacted a couple of local stores to help with the returns.”

Families can collect bottles from their own use and from relatives, and can contact neighbors to get donations. Most people are interested in recycling to some degree, so it’s not hard to find willing contributors if you make it easy for them.

Free Fundraiser Idea #9

Since you'll be out there gathering spent printer cartridges, retired cellphones and empty bottles, why don't you gather up some other valuable recyclables at the same time?

Consider aluminum cans or unwanted copper items, such as old pots and pans, water pipes, discarded wire, etc. Both of these minerals have increased in valuation recently - particularly copper.

Then there's the penny.

Fundraising with pennies is a great - although slow - method to raise funds. Pennies have so little value on their own nowadays - apart from the copper content, helping to make pennies even more valuable than their face value - that folks are often happy to donate them to your cause, if for no other reason than to discard them.

And it's an ideal fundraiser to include children in simply because they enjoy the challenge of amassing as many pennies as they can, from anyone and everyone they encounter.

Find a large transparent jar to drop the pennies in so everybody can watch it fill up. Then add a competition to reward the top collectors and your earnings will shoot through the roof.

Free Fundraiser Idea #10

Seems as though just about every elementary school holds one of these at some point. It is certainly not unique or even chic, but, it's easy and rewarding. As well as delicious. What exactly is it?

The venerable bake sale.

Of course, not every idea on this list is new and exciting, but think about this: given that all the treats are donated, your return on investment is almost unlimited.

The single thing you'll need for a successful bake sale is plenty of volunteers with baking experience (and who are able to purchase the ingredients) and some covered tables large enough to present the delightful food.

Naturally, a high-traffic site that is shielded from the weather, such as a school entryway for instance, is a great place to hold the bake sale.

Bake sales aren't only for schools however. Any non-profit organization of almost any size can hold a bake sale and raise a lot of money.
