Fundraiser Cookbook, Philippine Style

by J. Pablo
(California)

My friend, Lisa who lives in Milpitas, California is an immigrant from the Philippines. Her parents migrated first because her father was a US veteran in his country and then all the siblings followed after a few years.

She likes to cook food and there is this Filipino dish which is called “adobo” and one time I suggested she make the recipe and sell it to friends. Later, I did not realized that she took that seriously and I was surprised one day when she invited me to a dinner fund raising party and voila! A Filipino Cookbook was the center stage of the party.

I asked her what was this for and she said she wanted to help out in a Filipino church in the Philippines and so she taught of selling her book to friends on that party and also help some people back in her native country.

Of course I was glad to have helped her realized a dream, although not big enough but sometimes even small ideas can have big impact at one point of time.
