Fundraising Calendars and Climate Change

Our school's Environment Council is a group of concerned young citizens that are determined to do our part for the world. They help to make other students in the school more aware of the climate change problem and focus on making the school more eco-friendly as a leader and role model in our community. The Council had already made some great changes such as supplying the school with double sided printers that could save paper and trees and enforced a more successful recycling program with more bins.
However, supplying these efforts were quite expensive as we need many things such as gloves and garbage bags for litter pickups, new recycling bins and paint for posters that would promote awareness.
Our fundraiser sold calendars that were environment focused, printed on used paper and filled with important environmental dates. It served a dual purpose, to inform our school and raise money by selling a useful object that everyone needed. We also had movie showings at our school with movies involving the environment such as the Inconvenient Truth that helped promote this idea. Each member of the Council should have sold a minimum of two calenders for $10 each.
It was a great success and the Council made over $750 which was so helpful in continuing their efforts.
