Fundraising Card Throws Softball Team $3000 in a Weekend

A few years ago, my parents and I started a traveling softball team. We planned on playing in tournaments all over the country and well, that was going to cost a lot of money for the players and myself. I knew of all the usual fundraising ideas, like a car wash, donations, yard sale, etc. But, I never really had an idea that stuck out, until I was in line at a grocery store and buying a lottery ticket. I came up with an idea to use the scratch-off fundraising card idea to make money. The way I did this, was I made 50 sheets of laminated paper, all with monetary values from 20 cents to 4 dollars.

The way to play was to ask somebody if they wanted to donate and then explain why, I would then explain that by scratching off a value, they agree to pay whatever the amount is. A lot of times, people would end up wanting to stratch more than just once, and giving extra money. It was an inexpensive and fun way to raise money.

We ended up raising around $3000 in a weekend which was a huge help in traveling expenses.
