Funraising in England
by Frozen
I worked for a company called Homefundraising that was based in Liverpool, UK. The company recruited people to go around the vicinity of Liverpool, door-to-door, and ask people to sign-up for Direct Debits on behalf on the ActionAid Charity. The money raised were used to sponsor a child in some impoverished areas in Africa, providing them with access to education and medical care.
It was not really a success as most people would not sign up to pay the required 15GBP a month. Usually, it is better to let people do charitable donations themselves instead of going door-to-door - some will even find it offensive.
