Here's Your Pizza Fundraiser!

We knew that most people would be watching the Superbowl and that many people would be doing so in small groups throughout our town. Making pizza an ideal food to serve for these parties. We also knew that in our small town there was no pizza delivery available at that time. Taking advantage of that niche for our fundraiser, we made a deal with a take and bake pizza shop in the next biggest town and began our fundraiser after the first of the year.
To motivate the youth, we ensured they and their parents knew that this fundraiser would cover most of the cost of this popular trip. We also gave out fundraiser fliers and order forms to the local business community. Even if they were not a member of the church, they liked pizza on Superbowl Sunday, and normally helped us with this fundraiser. We also made sure the fundraiser order form and process was simple with four popular types of pizza to order and a pay on delivery option.
We took orders from congregation members as well as people through out the community. Since there was no other competition we had real positive response. We delivered the pizzas all at one time after Sunday morning services. We were able to raise the funds needed for our trip, making this one of our most successful fundraisers (way better than when they got to cut my hair off).
What made this fundraiser a success was providing a service that met a desire, letting people know about our fundraiser who were not members of our church and working with a good vendor who provided a good product.
I think that is the key to a good fundraiser, find what people either need or really like (like chocolate) and to work with a vendor who will make the process simple and provides a quality product.
