Magazine Mayhem Fundraiser
by rhonda
So when it came time for the local high school seniors to raise money to offset the cost of their senior trip, the high school let the kids vote an they opted to sell magazine subscriptions. My daughter said they figured candy was overdone and magazines yielded a higher return for less sales. BIG MISTAKE!!!!
The school decided that they would sweeten the deal for seniors by giving a pair a prom tickets to the student who sold the most subscriptions. All 300 members of the graduating class must have knocked on my door! I purchased Elle from a sweet boy who was also on the football team, O magazine from my beloved daughter, and her best friend of 6 years was sure that I would love Rachael Rays's monthly recipes. Then of course my daughter found out I had purchased from the football star and asked if I would by my husband Popular Mechanics and she was sure she'd heard her dad say he wished he got Consumer Reports every month. The school raised a ton of money and had enough to credit each child $100 toward their trip expenses !!
I stopped answering my door a week into the sale and I am pretty sure that I am responsible for the death of 10 perfectly lovely trees. 2 years later I kept only my O subscription and the reminder that when mid April rolls around to keep the doors locked and the shades drawn !
