Online Auction Fundraiser Makes Big Money for Church Renovation

We held bake sales, car washes and other minor endevors to help with the cost but the biggest contribution to the cost came from an online auction. We asked all members of the congragation to use e-bay to sell any unwanted items around the house and created an e-bay store for the church.
It was like having a massive yard sale without everyone having to drag their items to one place and stand around all day. People could upload pictures and descriptions of their items from home and then just sit back and wait for them to sell.
We had a variety of items from old gym equipment to clothes, sporting goods and used cell phones. Anything people wanted to clear out of their houses was eligible and in total the online auction raised over $9,000 toward the addition!
The next time I'm involved with a fundraising effort of any kind, I will definitely use the online auction idea again. The more people who are involved, the more money you raise and it was much easier than a yard sale or car wash.

Charity auctions are a great strategy for raising money, especially for bigger non-profit groups like educational institutions. Web-based auctions supply you with the ability to obtain bids through considerably more people when compared with old-style auctions.
