Parent Teacher Organization Bake Sale Fundraiser

by Rachael
(Brighton, CO USA)

For Parent/Teacher conferences in the fall of 2008, my son's school decided to host a bake sale. The money was intended to fund field trips for Kindergartners in the spring of 2009.

In order to help make the fundraiser a success, the first step of the process was to spread the word to all children's parents. Fliers were sent home with students advertising the bake sale. It was required that all students and parents attend a conference with the teacher, so each family would be exposed to the treats and goodies which were available for purchase at the bake sale.

Volunteers were asked to bring in their favorite baked goods--mine were frosted sugar cookies which were in the shapes of pumpkins. Parents and students could not enter the school without passing the tempting treats.

In the end, the bake sale raised just over two hundred dollars for the kindergartner's zoo field trip, which will take place on Friday, April 24, 2009. It was deemed a huge success!
