Portrait fundraising - picture perfect profits

Photo Fundraisers: Not the same ole Fundraiser

By James McIver

In today’s world of sports, church and civic groups, fundraising has become an unavoidable necessity.  Rising costs and rising expectations along with falling budgets have caused an even wider gap between what we want for our group and what can afford.  There is always a search for fundraisers that are profitable as well as unique.

More School Districts and civic groups are limiting the ‘food fundraisers’ or eliminating them completely.  Selling high fat and mega cholesterol snacks for as little as 50% profit is adverse to the life style advocated by more and more parents today.

Photography Fundraisers similar to the Programs available at www.enfocusfundraising.com, offer a better lifestyle choice for many families these days.  They also keep you from hauling 30 frozen turkeys and hams around in your SUV the day before Thanksgiving!  You have enough problems without having to store product that needs to be delivered.

Your group may earn more money with fewer transactions because of the highly profitable nature of these fundraisers.  Making $20-$30 per transaction will make your Fundraising goals more easily attainable.

The Photography Fundraiser works very simply.  You decide when you want your photography date.  The Photo Company should supply everything you need for the sales and tracking.

Selling the certificates for the photo shoot is most all you should have to do.  Earning the entire amount of the certificate sale price, without complicated bonuses, is very important.  Those bonuses are sometimes difficult.  Be sure to understand, in advance, all bonuses.  The Photography Company will make their money from the additional portrait sales; you should get all of the certificate sales.

The Photography Company should offer incentives for the best sellers in your group.  It always helps to give free photos to the best performers.

Be sure to choose a Photography Company that offers a variety of programs to select from.  Choosing that right program will help make your fundraiser more profitable.

The different types include:

Glamour Photography - Photo certificates are good for a Glamour type sitting.  This includes a complete hairstyle and cosmetic makeover before the photo sitting.  Wardrobe for the sitting is also available.  The Photography Company supplies all of these services.  You should not have to supply any of these services! Including makeup artist!

Antique Photography - Certificates are redeemable for an old-fashioned photo shoot. These are mainly done of children.  The Photography Company should supply props and wardrobe.  These portraits are printed in old fashioned sepia tone.

Family Photography - These certificates are for a family portrait sitting.  Be sure to choose a company that can photograph large families (8 to 12 family members).  Also, be sure they can do the more updated full-length family portraits.

The certificates for each of these programs should include a portrait.  The larger the better is the best rule for the portrait.  That makes the certificates more valuable.

The normal size is 10x13, stay away from smaller sizes.  It is too easy to get 8x10s elsewhere.

With no complicated orders and no product to deliver, Portrait Fundraisers can be very easy and very profitable.

Companies such as ENFOCUS Fundraising can help in planning and coordinating these type events.
