Recycle Fundraiser Project

by Lizzie
(New York, United States)

We have had more than one recycling fundraiser at my sons elementary school. We have recycled and donated glasses (eye glasses) and we have recycled cans too.

We set out large bins at the entrance of the school and just left it there all year. The school would remind us from time to time to donate our recyclables.

Because it can be such a pain to take them to the recycling center and have them counted many people, us included just kept donating to the school.

The school raised over $2,000 last year. Not bad for sitting out a bin by a door! Plus, they only have about 1500 kids in the entire school.

As shown in the story above, recycling can be as easy as setting up a bin near the entryway of a school or business. Some of the easiest things to recycle these days are inkjet printer cartridges and cell phones because everyone (it seems) uses them and needs to replace them as they run out (in the case of the ink cartridges), or become obsolete (in the case of cell phones).

Why not raise money with these ubiquitous items instead of putting them in a drawer or (worse) sending them to the landfill, where they'll sit for decades or more.

Of course, rather than just setting up a bin, you could take a more proactive approach and send bins to family and friends so they can collect recyclables from work. Plus, you could even take bins to local businesses so they can help your cause too.

Discover a recycle fundraising program that is 100% free and easy. Recycle laser cartridges and raise money as well with the Funding Factory.
