Rhythm Knights Camp

by Rachael
(Brighton, CO)

In high school for my pom squad, we had to raise money every year to attend UDA dance camp. We needed money for food, lodging, and uniforms while we were there.

In order to raise the money we needed, we would sell candy bars. They were the king-sized candy bars, and we sold them for a dollar each. Our goal was to raise $50 per person (100 candy bars total, as half had to pay for the candy) for t-shirts and shorts, and the school would pay for the rest.

It was fairly successful at first. Students were generally excited about the extra large candy bars for a dollar each. We would hang posters all over the school to see a Rhythm Knight for a candy bar.

I carried boxes of candy to all my classes and was able to sell about thirty a day for the first few days.

As we neared the goal, the selling always slowed down. We always made our goal, though, and we made it to poms camp every single year.
