Scratch Cards for Marching Band

When I was in high school, our band director found out about using scratch cards to raise money. He loved the idea, but the band boosters were not so sure it would work. After much convincing, the boosters agreed to give the fundraiser a try. They figured what could be the worst thing that happened.

So my friends and I all received one of these cards, and we began to use them to raise money. We all found mixed results with the scratch cards. Some students were met with a lot of success. They had family and friends who loved the idea. Some people even scratched multiple spaces. However, I was not a student who found success. I had multiple people tell me they were unwilling to participate. Some people felt it was to much like the lottery, and others did not want the the pressure to give more money then they may be able to afford. I also has some people say they would have been willing to donate more, but their spot only said a dollar.

Ultimately, I feel like this fundraiser has a lot of potential. I think the major thing you need to think about is what group of people are you going to try and raise money from. If you try this with the wrong group of people, you will not be successful. With the right group of individuals this will raise a lot of money.
