Selling chocolate before it melted to get to Virginia before we did!

When I was in middle school, our advanced band program had a tradition of taking a big trip up to Richmond, VA in early May. While to you it may not seem all that extravagant, we all really looked forward to it - getting out of the heat of South Carolina and a short trip to Busch Gardens were the only perks I needed to hear before I was ready to start raising money! The trip was incredibly expensive and I'm so there's one bit of knowledge we all share: 14 year old kids love some chocolate... so as a group we all worked with
World's Finest Chocolates and purchased boxes of their chocolate candy bars to sell to our peers at school. In order to amp up the desire to sell a little more, there were academic and extracurricular incentives for every box of chocolate bars you sold. For example, one box got you an extra bathroom pass (humorous but so important!), and three boxes got you a homework pass. By the end of the 3 weeks of selling, more than half of the band members had managed to pay for their entire trip from the money raised from our chocolate sales.. self included :)
