Senior Carnival and Candy Sale Fundraiser

When I was in High School, I was very active in track and field. There were only six of us on my High School senior team, so it was a pretty tight niche group of friends. We qualified in 2003 for the USATF Southern California Summer Track and Field Grand Prix. Well our school didn't have any money to fly us down, so we needed to raise money for our tickets. We chose to do a combination
candy sale, and senior carnival to raise enough money for both us and for other school activities. The six of us went around the school asking teachers and students if they could bake some homemade treats to sell at the carnival, while we helped the principal decide on what kind of activities we should have at the carnival. The preparation for this took a good solid month and a half of hard work, and on Friday the 11th of April, we had a massive outdoor carnival held in and around the High School. The amount of homemade treats we had accumulated for the carnival was in the hundreds of pounds. The senior carnival raised well over four thousand dollars, so not only did we raise enough money for the six of us to go down and compete in the track and field tournament, but because the carnival was so successful, the principal announced that every year from that day forward, there would be a senior carnival to help raise money and school spirit.
