Soccer Team Calender Fundraiser

So I was helping coach a soccer team last summer and they were in desperate need of supplies. They needed small goals to practice with, cones, balls, shin guards, some jerseys and practice uniforms.
After a bunch of ideas were thrown out on how we could raise money we finally settled on making a calendar and selling it. The other ideas presented but left aside were bake sale, car wash and a soccer workshop. The calendar seemed like an ideal idea because a friend of mine was in the printing business so we could get a good rate for printing the calendars.
We came up with the idea of using all of our pets and displaying them as pictures on the calendar. Most were dogs, but a few had birds, lizard and even a spider.
I think the pets idea was surprisingly new and innovative. Not only do most people like pets and animals but I'm sure they wouldn't have wanted to see kids they didn't know on a calendar. By using animals we made this a huge success.
We set up different backgrounds and took pictures of the animals doing the funniest things and dressed up in the most hilarious of outfits. This made for a very valuable calendar. We sold each calendar for $5.00.
The calendar wasn't a large one, but about half a normal sheet of paper. I did this is Gainesville, Florida and it was a huge success for really only selling them for one summer.
My tip to anyone doing a calendar is pick something that can be sold to lots of people. Something that appeals to the majority will be a success. Such as outdoor pictures, flowers, babies, and animals. Action shots are liked by most as well.
We raised over $300 by selling these door to door, at the kids schools and I would sit and sell them at the soccer games to other kids' parents. I had balloons and other things to attract people to the table and ask what I was selling. It was very successful because people want to help and everyone needs a calendar.
