Sprapbook for Fun(draising)!

by Jenny
(Columbus, GA)

I agreed to be the fundraising coordinator for my 12-year-old nieces softball team last year. In a meeting, the girls, their parents and myself around ideas for them to raise money for a summer softball camp.

We considered all of the traditional methods, selling candy, car washes, raffle tickets, etc. but we had done all of those before with only minimal success.

We finally decided that we would make blank scrapbooks to sell on eBay. I went and purchased supplies from a local craft store and as a collaborative effort from the parents and girls made four twenty-page scrapbooks, each one a different sports theme.

We listed them each on eBay for $99 each, with the group picture of the team and what they were raising money for. The response was great from the bidders and seven days later we had made $942 for softball camp! It was such a success that we are in the process of doing it again to help pay for this year’s camp!
