Steak for Kentucky Fundraiser

We bought in bulk and talked with the local grocers and butchers and received great discounts and donations on the food. We asked different stores and theaters to donate door prizes and received quite a few. The dinner was held in our high school cafetorium, we decorated the place and our tables with as much FFA stuff as we could find.
Being an FFA Chapter hosting this we asked the local Ag Talk radio host to speak at the event, we made a slide show of our different accomplishments, fun times, and dirty times with a great compilation of music and showed this as well.
We sold tables for a hundred dollars and seats for ten, and we had a full house. We, the FFA officers, wore our uniforms and performed the duty of waitstaff.
The food turned out great, we had steak, cooked to order, baked potatoes and the fixins, baked beans and pork n' beans, bread or rolls, and a selection of desserts made by many of the moms.
The show was entertaining and dinner was filling and tasted good, and the best part was we made more than enough money. We had enough for all the fees, hotels, gas, and everything else we expected but we also had enough that for the whole trip everyone was fed and a few extras were able to attend.
I will never forget that trip to Kentucky and the National FFA Convention, but I will never forget what it took to get us there!
