Visitor contributions and fundraising ideas

The Fund Raising Brains

Me and my friends wanted to raise some money for the underprivileged kids of the society who used to live just outside our college. We asked students from our batch (240 students) to contribute some money but everyone of them was reluctant to do so and this was disheartening, but we decided to something that would be absolutely different and new and it would allow us to earn money by using our brains and not begging anyone for the same.

Our college is an engineering college and its annual technical festival was nearing. We decided to open a food stall that would provide delicious food items cooked by 'us' to the students coming to participate in the technical festival. Most of the fellow students opposed our idea and said it would look strange that engineering students are running a food stall and that even in a technical festival. But we were adamant to help the kids and we decided to go ahead with the idea. First day was as good as a curfew, few students appeared on our stall and the sale was pathetic. Second day, things changed and for the next three days we could not even breathe. We sold juices, hamburgers, sandwiches, spaghetti, salad and every other thing that could be sold. Those who opposed us helped us in our idea by joining hands behind the counter. Even the director of our college came to our food stall and praised our effort and when he got to know that we were doing it to help the unprivileged kids, he asked all his staff members to buy something from our food stall.

We earned 5000$ as profits and we distributed it among the families of the kids. It was a beautiful experience.
