The Pink Versus Blue Battle Fundraiser

A few years back in order to raise money for an in-need family in my school community we had a battle between the boys and the girls of the school to see who could raise the most money. The contest was school wide and you had to sell either a pink silicone bracelet to support the girls team or a blue bracelet to support the boys. All of the profits in the end went to the family in need.

The contest went on for about a month and it really was a community based effort because you had to not only show your allegiance one way or another and then you had siblings trying to out beat themselves just by selling more bracelets to their families and friends.

The school provided the money for the initial purchase of the bracelets, and they were sold for $1.50 per bracelet but in the end many people gave donations above and beyond that. In the end my elementary school was able to raise a little under $9,000, in about a month and a half.
