Trip of a Lifetime

I sold World's Finest Chocolate in Calgary, Alberta for a band trip fundraiser a few years ago when I was in high school. It may not sound like a huge deal, but it was my first plane trip and first music concert to play away from home. I think the excitement of that was what made me so motivated to do well.

Not many of the other students were motivated to do much to sell so I felt I was on my own for this one.

I dressed up in my old Halloween costume (it was March, by the way) and went 'Trick or Treating'. I explained what I was doing and the fact that I was just using the costume to have a chance to talk to people. I tried to be really low pressure about getting people to buy, but the fact I was willing to make a fool of myself seemed to help.

I also sold them at the door of a school dance with a sign calling them the World's Most Romantic Gift. A lot of people going in found that pretty funny so they were willing to buy. Also, I think, because I was willing to sit there and sell chocolates instead of inside dancing.

The name World's Finest Chocolate is a familiar one, so that helps in selling the product.

It was a great trip, and well worth the effort.
