Unique Fundraising Ideas for Breast Cancer 3-Day
I started out with things people always participate in, but the proceeds going to a good cause. Our first fundraising event was Superbowl squares. I sold squares on a 10 by 10 grid to our friends, co-workers, family, anyone that was interested! I used social media (facebook) to generate interest and ensure all 100 squares were filled. Each square was $10 a square, with 75% of the proceeds going to our cause, and the other 25% of the proceeds handed out to the winners.
On gameday, we assigned each side of the 10 x 10 grid to a team, and labeled each row and column with a number 0 - 9. At the end of each quarter and game, a winner was chosen based on the last digit of the score for each team, the cooresponding square on the grid was the winner! Luckily, some of the winners donated their proceeds, so the net proceeds I gained was $850.
The second successful fundraiser I did revolved around March Madness - college basketball brackets. For a fee of $20 a bracket, which many people already participate in "bracketology" in some fashion, everyone is able to pick the winners throughout College Basketball Championship bracket games. Each round is given a point value, with the first round (32 games) valued at 1 point for correctly picking the winner, and points doubling for each correct pick in the following rounds. I got a total of 75 brackets, with 20% of the proceeds going to the winners. Winners were paid for for the top three point values for $1,500.
With these 2 simple fundraisers, I was easily able to raise the staggering amount of money required to participate in the event. It took dedication, some uncomfortable self promotion, and the help of supportive friends and family to make each one so successful, but in the end, it was well worth it.
