Warm Hug Donation

My friend and I are student President and student Vice President of Key Club. Key Club is a club at our high school that raises awareness about overlooked issues in the world.

Teenagers nowadays worry more about fashion and latest trends rather than people who live in poverty. These people can be found everywhere,
vastly in third world countries, but even at homeless shelters in our own cities.

Winter was coming up soon and we usually had a bake sale or something like that to raise money. However, I was thinking of something better.

Almost all the teenagers at my school, especially the girls, refused to wear a winter jacket from last year. They claimed it was old and out of style, even though it was perfectly fine. I knew we could put those coats and jackets to good use.

A week later we began announcing the 'Warm Hug' drive, which was the donation of any sweaters or jackets and coats you didn't need anymore. Because, after all, to a person who is really cold a coat or sweater does feel like a nice warm hug.

The drive was very successful and we got over a 200 coats and even more sweaters. Many kids and teens in poverty now felt warm; our goal was accomplished.
