Webelos Scout Troop Calendar Fundraiser

As a Den mother of a small Boy Scout Webelos pack, I decided on a calendar fundraiser to raise money for our boys. Our pack is fairly small with only 8 members so our goal was for each boy to sell a minimum of 10 calendars.

Based on our calculations, if each member reached his goal, we would be able to afford an all expenses paid amusement park outting.

Usually, children involved fundraisers end with the parents purchasing the goods be it candy, trickets, or stale overpriced popcorn. We contacted our local grocery store and asked permission to set up a table for our fundraiser.

For two months, every other weekend, we planned to man the booth selling calendars. Determined not to purchased or end up with nearly 100 calendars, we were committed to reaching our goal. The pack wore their uniforms and were on their best boy scout behavior.

Surprisingly, by the second weekend, we had unloaded all of our calendars. We were fortunate when we were approached by a former Scout who donated a generous gift. Initially, I was a bit optomistic but things turned out fantastic. I guess there is a soft spot in people's hearts for kids doing positive, constructive things.
