Yearly Calendar Fundraiser

I was a member of A.P.D.R. (Association for Protection of Democratic Rights) here in India. Our mission is to stop Human Rights Violation and help the victims. For ideological reasons we do not take grants from the government or any other N.G. O.(s). To run the expenses of offering legal help to the victims, conducting rallies, seminars, publication we need a steady supply of money. It is a fact that money will not come to you automatically, unless you devise new channels. We publish calendars every year for this purpose. The calendars are designed especially for the members, sympathizers, and people with interest to our organization. During publication of our calendars we always keep in mind to select the paintings which have an aesthetic and signature value. Sometimes we approach the painters and artists to help us by donating a painting. Thus we try to keep the production cost minimum. Then we select appropriate quotations from renowned poets and singers and put it on the pages of calendar. Our motto is to give the calendar an intellectual effect. It should not be any ordinary calendar. We make it as an intellectual and artistic representation of our organizations views and activities. Then we send the calendars to our branches and we ask every member to take the responsibility to sell at least 10 calendars. Some members have more connection and ability they sell much more than that. I personally feel that it is much easier to ask for some money for the calendar than just asking for a donation. We maintain good relationship with local magazine stores; we request them to display our calendar for sale. We sell these calendars at the seminars and rallies and meetings and book fairs along with our magazines. Now we have grown a good number of people who buys our fundraising calendar every year. So my suggestion you must put stress on keeping relationship with your friends, relatives, neighbors, colleagues. First go to them. If every member or people of the organization does this then you will be able to collect a good sum of money for your noble purpose. At the same time we can create awareness about our organization.
